The Story

From Edinburgh to the ELICOS classroom.

How a philosopher-reader of English literature became the coordinator behind CSOL's language programs — and a specialist in the tests that open academic and professional doors.

Professional Summary

Built on close reading.

Nia Kessler is the Coordinator of the Commonwealth School of Languages (CSOL), where she brings a wealth of expertise in English language education, curriculum development and resource creation for both children and adults. With a strong background in TESOL, ELICOS, IELTS and PTE programs, Nia is passionate about sharing her knowledge of English language learning and test preparation, particularly in the IELTS and English language sectors.

Nia holds an MA in Philosophy and English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, one of the world's top-ranked universities for literature and languages. She has completed several linguistics modules and advanced grammar courses, and holds multiple TEFL certifications, including a 120-hour Premier TEFL and a 40-hour TEFL for exam preparation. Her experience includes over two years of classroom teaching and six months of specific TEFL assistant experience, as well as running ESOL sessions focused on job readiness and conversational English.

Known for her collaborative leadership and ability to foster positive learning environments, Nia excels in supporting educators, managing administrative tasks and engaging effectively with students and stakeholders from diverse cultural backgrounds. She is dedicated to making English language learning accessible, engaging and tailored to individual needs — using interactive methods and real-world scenarios to build students' confidence and communication skills.

Grammar is the plot; conversation is the story. A good class needs both.
